In Prague about the future of the carbon market Prague will become a one-day capital of European emission permits business. The European Carbon Forum 2012 International Conference, which will take place in the Czech metropolis as early as 16 February, will be attended by globally recognized experts in this field. They will be together searching for the way-out from the current situation at the European carbon market. “We know what condition the market is in. Prices are minimal, which does not stimulate companies, and the meaning and future of the whole mechanism is being discussed. Results of a climate conference in Durban have also caused nervousness. The European Carbon Forum 2012 is a platform for these issues,” says Rastislav Vasilisin, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Virtuse Group, which organizes the event.
The European Commission's position will be presented at the conference by Hans Bergman from the Directorate General of the EC for the Fight against Climate Change. Andreas Carlgren, the former Swedish Minister of Environment, will present his vision of the future of the Kyoto Protocol.
Mr. Robert Seehawer, chief of EEX, one of the biggest emission exchanges, will present expectations before the upcoming emission permits auctions. New structured products related to the carbon emissions trading will be presented by Koen Dejonghe, Director of the Emission Trading Section of Statkraft, a Norwegian energy giant.
Not only the representatives of public administration will be inspired by a detailed explanation of the globally recognized sale of AAU, the state emission permits, prepared by Martin Bursík, the former Vice-President and Minister of Environment of the Czech Republic.
The conference is taking place in a very current period, immediately before the allocation of emission allowances for this year. Companies are paying maximal attention. “The whole system of the allocation of permits and the trading of permits – EU ETS – will change in less than a year. Details about new rules will also be discussed at the conference. I believe that, with help from our guest from abroad and representatives of the Ministry of Environment and our team, we will be able to help companies to better understand this issue,” added Jan Fousek, Virtuse's Chief of Trading.
The European Carbon Forum is a professional platform, which connects representatives of all stakeholders and entities in the field of the emission permits in one place. The quality of speakers and the scope of the information provided make this event a unique event within the whole Central European area. The first conference took place in Bratislava. After Prague, the organizers want to move this platform to Warsaw.
